CDK Stone Bridge Rail Crane Daily Inspection Checklist

    CRANE CHECKLIST

    Check the bridge rail crane each day before use

    1. PPE: Steel capped safety footwear and high visibility clothing or vest is worn

    2. SIGNS & TAGS: No maintenance signs, out of service tags, danger tags are
    displayed.

    3. ISOLATION: The crane has not been isolated and locked off at the main isolator

    4. MAINTENANCE CREW: No crane maintenance crew is present

    5. REPORTED DEFECTS: Check logbook for any reported defects or occurrences

    6. WLL: Working Load Limit is displayed

    7. ELECTRICAL: No exposed electrical conductors (isolate machine if any are
    present)

    8. LEAKS: Warehouse floor has no signs of leaks from the crane, especially where the crane is normally parked. Look for hydraulic leaks and gear box leaks.

    9. STRUCTURE: No obvious damage to crane or structure is visible

    10. FESTOON CABLE: Secure and undamaged. The Festoon Cable is the looped electrical cable that runs along the track to the motor

    11. COLLECTOR WIRES: Undamaged and no irregularities

    12. CRANE TRAVE PATH: Clear of obstructions

    13. EMERGENCY STOP BUTTON: Raised above all others (i.e., not locked down)

    14. PENDANT CONTROLS (with mainline power off): Check operation and that labelling is in place and not faded/damaged

    15. PENDANT: Free of damage

    16. SHACKLE & CRANE HOOK: Check for visual signs of damage or wear

    17. CLAMP: Check clamp for the following

    Wear or damage

    All labels are in place and are legible

    Has a current inspection tag or label signifying third party inspection by a competent person

    Rubber surfaces of the clamp for wear/damage

    Rubber surfaces on the clamp are free from dirt, grease and other substances that may affect grip

    No loose parts on the clamp that should be tight. Parts should never loosen by themselves

    18. SHACKLE: Check shackle for the following

    Shackle markings are legible

    Threads of the pin and the body are undamaged

    Body and the pin are not distorted

    Body and the pin are not unduly worn

    Body and the pin are free from nicks, gouges, cracks and corrosion

    The split pin in the pin is in place and secured

    No loose parts on the shackle that should be tight. Parts should never loosen by themselves

    19. EMERGENCY STOP: Check operation

    20. RAISE/LOWER: Check raise and lower operation in both slow and fast speed

    21. UPPER & LOWER LIMITS: Check they are functioning correctly

    22. TRAVEL MOTION: Check travel limits are functioning correctly

    23. SAFETY SWITCHES & INTERLOCKS: Check operation

    24. HOIST WIRE ROPE: Check for damage, kinks, is on the drum and correctly reeved on the sheave

    25. CROSS TRAVEL: Check operation in both fast and slow speed

    26. LONG TRAVEL: Check operation in both fast and slow speed

    27. BRAKES: Check in all directions

    28. LISTEN: Check for any noises which are strange or vary from normal
